Dear Annie: Despite my best efforts, new neighborhood is anything but welcoming
1+ hour, 41+ min ago (289+ words) Dear Annie: Earlier this year, my family moved into a new neighborhood after decades in our old community. I arrived with so much optimism. The street was charming, the neighbors seemed warm, and there was this lovely sense that we had stepped into a place where people truly knew one another. I've tried to stay friendly and open. I've dropped off misdelivered packages, complimented people's gardens, asked about their kids' sports teams. Still, the more I reach out, the more self-conscious I feel, as though I'm pushing myself into a circle that doesn't quite want to expand. Is this just part of adjusting to a new place? Am I imagining something that isn't really there? How do adults find real connection in a community without coming across as needy or overeager? -- Feeling Left Out on Maple Dear Left Out: Moving…...

4+ hour, 30+ min ago (549+ words) The Buffalo Bills will take on the Pittsburgh Steelers in a pivotal AFC clash in NFL Week 13 at Acrisure Stadium on Thanksgiving Sunday, scheduled to commence at 4:25 p.m. EST. All week, the Bills have been holding their breath regarding the status of their offensive line after quarterback Josh Allen was sacked a career-high eight times last week. The fear was that Buffalo would be forced to face Pittsburgh's elite pass rush without their top protectors. Head coach Sean McDermott announced Friday that both left tackle Dion Dawkins (concussion) and right tackle Spencer Brown (shoulder) have been ruled OUT. This leaves the Bills without their starting tackle duo against a Steelers defensive line led by T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith. And it's an issue exacerbated by confirmation that Aaron Rodgers will start in Week 13. To mitigate the disaster, the Bills will turn to…...

5+ hour, 6+ min ago (258+ words) A pop-punk has updated its most beloved song with a surprising new singer. Goldfinger teamed up with skate legend Tony Hawk and alternative hip-hop star Bryce Vine for a new version of "Superman," mixing rap with alternative rock. The song actually now features vocals from Hawk, who included the original version on the soundtrack for his video game "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater." Hawk has previously sung "Superman" live with Goldfinger, but is certainly not known as a singer. Axe: 5 things Fran Brown has to do to get Syracuse football back on track
5+ hour, 41+ min ago (1107+ words) Syracuse, N.Y. "The games were only one year apart but represent two dramatically opposite ends of the spectrum for Syracuse Football. On Nov. 30, 2024, Syracuse defeated No. 9 Miami 42-38 before over 40,000 fans at the JMA Dome, capping the greatest comeback in Syracuse history. On Saturday, Syracuse lost to Boston College 34-12, a team with a 1-10 record entering a Basement Bowl matchup of the two last-place teams in the ACC. Syracuse head coach Fran Brown's mission now is to point the compass back in the direction his program was heading a year ago after the Miami win and as far away as possible from the eight-game losing streak and 3-9 slog his 2025 squad just experienced. Here are five ways Brown can validate his assertion that happy days will be here again soon for Syracuse football. QB Steve Angeli finished as SU's leading passer with 1,317 yards and…...
Morrisville-Eaton football’s ‘one last ride’ sends coach into retirement with program’s first regional title
9+ hour, 29+ min ago (941+ words) Syracuse, N.Y. " The Morrisville-Eaton football team gave its coach and several talented seniors the parting gift of a historic title Sunday. The Mavericks combined an overpowering rushing attack with a timely defense to easily defeat Section IX's Eldred 40-12 Sunday in the state 8-man football regional championship at Cicero-North Syracuse. The dominance delivered the Mavericks (11-2) their first-ever regional banner and put an apt bow on the career of head coach Don Johnson, who is retiring after 30 years of coaching, including 15 at M-E. Wesley Dimperio and Landen Highers each rushed for a pair of touchdowns as the Mavericks jumped out to a 16-0 first-quarter lead and didn't need to break much of a sweat after that. "Oh, it's pretty bittersweet, I guess," Johnson said of his emotions on his bus ride home. "I haven't let it sink in yet, of course. I've been saying…...
